It is one of the very few remaining Literary & Philosophical Societies that still runs an independent Museum, the older parts of which are often regarded as a ‘Museum within a Museum’ and have the atmosphere of an Edwardian Museum.
I was lucky enough to be able to watch Whitby’s swing Bridge 100 centenary celebrations on Saturday, 8 August 2009.
From a prime location the second floor of the Dolphin Hotel which is right next to the bridge itself. I don’t think it would have been possible to have a better view on this gorgeous sunny day.
