Literally thousands of holidaymakers turned out on a beautiful sunny day to celebrate the 169th Whitby Regatta.
Many of the local businesses depend largely on this particular event to pull in much-needed revenue, and it is a great help if the weather is good producing large crowds.

There was a gymnastic display by the Jumping Kangaroos was one of the highlights alongside a Battle of Britain fly-past.

The carnival is set up and later tonight there will be the stunning firework display.
